Essay writing is a tedious task that we all have played victim to. By following this simple format,
perhaps your essay will be more organized and less difficult to write. Keep in mind this is
merely a format to add organization, the creativity must come from within the writer.

I) Lead-in-
This is used as an attention getter that makes the reader want to read your essay. If your lead-in is boring, don’t expect the reader to look forward to finishing your paper. Use one of the following as your lead in.
a personal story
a startling statistic
a quote
a thought provoking question
II) Thesis Statement
In one sentence sum up the entirety of what you feel or of what you are stating in your
paper. You must use this as a connection to everything and mention bits of it throughout your
essay.
III) Topic Sentence
Choose at least three points you want to discuss about your subject and place them into an understandable sentence.
IV) Point #1
Use this paragraph to discuss your first point, relating it to your thesis statement.
V) Point #2
Use this paragraph to discuss your second point, relating it to your thesis statement.

VI) Point #3

Use this paragraph to discuss your third point, relating it to your thesis statement.

VII) Conclusion

a. Review three points

b. Refer to your lead-in and examine it’s significance

c. End with your thesis statement as you final sentence

Writing an organized essay shouldn’t be something that is dreaded by students all over the world. With this simple format, you can say exactly what you need to say in an organized and professional manner without the hassle of writers block.
