Located in Ely on the northern tip of Minnesota, this spot is world famous. Canoe rentals and private wilderness experiences are available for the tour friendly, but the preffered method is to gear up and brave the area on your own. This is true wilderness living, so those that need a hot shower and electricity may want to stay behind in a nearby hotel. A Boundary Waters trip truly is an unforgettable experience, best traveled with the paddle of a canoe and a good, sturdy pair of hiking boots. Make no mistake: this is outdoor living at its finest. You'll need to tie your food up in a tree at night to prevent the wildlife (namely bear) from eating it and without mosquito repellent, you're a goner. For true campers, this one can't be beat! There are 87-entry points available. Boundary Waters is open year round.


If you're a water lover, this park is easy on the eyes. Prairie Island Park is located two miles north of Winona. Be sure to pack the dog. This Park is pet-friendly and adheres to the campground friendly traveler. Fishermen will enjoy the challenge of the raging Mississippi River and if you canoe, the ride can't be beat. 80 campsites ensure a good night's rest in this friendly, small town community. This Park is open April-November.


Bray Park is 95 acres of fun. Catering to true nature lovers and those that need a touch of civilization, Bray Park is the perfect pit stop for campers of all skill levels. Located in Mankato, Minnesota, this is a quick drive from St.Paul/Minneapolis. Hiking trails, boat ramps, swimming beaches and volleyball courts are all accessible and free of charge to campers. 33-mobile electric campsites cater to Rv'ers, with a separate tenting area available, as well. Handicap camping and restroom facilities are also available.

Don't be fooled by the name! This is not a cushy, RV Resort. Camper's Paradise is total seclusion! Fifty five acres of woods are home to eighty sites that are so far apart, you'll have trouble seeing another campfire. This pet friendly paradise also rents boats, pontoons, canoes and sporting equipment. If you're looking for privacy at night and activity by day, this hot spot can't be beat. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day.


Located on Moose Lake (the gateway to Boundary Waters), this campground is the perfect alternative to roughing it in the wilderness. Rustic cabins are available for rent or you can pitch your tent at any of their lakeside locations. As the name implies, this is canoe country. Serious boat enthusiasts will enjoy the challenge. This is the reason Minnesota is famous for its lakes!


Located on Pomme de Terre Lake, this site caters to the I-still-need-to-see-people camper. Oak shaded sites (26 with electricity and 50 without- for tenters) are aplenty, and you're never too far from your neighbor here. Tipsinah has a huge playground and is very child friendly, with activities planned daily. Bath houses, boat rentals and a general store make this an easy camping experience. Handicap accessible.


Tucked away on the edge of Voyageurs National Park, this beautiful Minnesota National Park deserves a place on your vacation map. Fishermen will delight in Lake Kabetogama and campers will settle right in to the woodsy, all natural park. This is a nice in between experience for families who don't need a lot of amenities, but aren't quite ready for Boundary Waters.


Breckenridge, Minnesota is home to Welles Memorial Park, a thirty acre wooded area that is adored by tenters. Five primitive sites allow for privacy and a true nature experience. Historic trails give you a feel for the area and park facilities nearby feature boat rentals, athletic equipment rentals and a swimming pool.


Those who enjoy a good, hot shower and the company of new friends will fit right into Whispering Bay Resort. 56 grassy sites allow for comfortable tenting or full hookups. Rustic cabins are also available for rent. Modern showers, a game room, country store and more are also found within the resort community. This pet friendly campground, located in the heart of Lindstrom, MN is a well traveled stop for fishermen, golfers (an 18 hole course is just outside the resort grounds) and groups.
