Mother Earth And Spirituality
Mother earth is the greatest teacher of spitituality. Look, listen and truly experience all the earth has to teach us.
The earth is our greatest teacher. Please take the time to stop, look, listen and truly experience all the earth has to teach us.
I was a young adult when I learned of my ancestory of being Native American in part. I had experienced visions of such, but due to my lack of understanding, I ignored these visions as simply an over-worked imagination. But still and all, I have always held a deep respect for the earth and all creatures whether they be flora or fauna, beast or beauty.
In the world of "Today" we as human beings take the earth for granted. When we need something (i.e. food, clothing, shelter, water, etc.) we buy it. While some of us do realize these things all came from the earth, there are sadly enough those persons who haven't a clue.
Mother Earth teaches us that we have all we need to survive, but that in order for this to continue, we must never take more than we can use, and we must always give back in thanks for what we have taken.
Each Morning I wake and thank Mother Earth for all of her knowledge and for all she has given to me both seen and un-seen. I revel in her beauty and grace. I thank her for allowing me the privelege to partake of her fruits as well as her knowledge.
Yes, Mother Earth has much to teach us, if we all would only take the time to stop and listen; listen with our hearts as well as our ears......
I leave you with a little of my heritage to help you all understand a little beter what I am trying to say. Walk In Peace Brothers and Sisters.....................

Native American Commandments
Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect.
Remain close to the Great Spirit.
Show great respect for your fellow beings.
Work together for the benefit of all Mankind.
Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.
Do what you know to be right.
Look after the well being of mind and body.
Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good.
Be truthful and honest at all times.
Take full responsibility for your actions.
give us hearts to understand;
never to take from creation's beauty more than we give;
never to destroy wantonly for the furtherance of greed;
never to deny to give our hands for the building of earth's beauty;
never to take from her what we cannot use.
Give us hearts to understand
that to destroy earth's music is to create confusion;
that to wreck her appearance is to blind us to beauty;
that to callously pollute her fragrance is to make a house of stench;
that as we care for her she will care for us.
We have forgotten who we are.
We have sought only our own security.
We have exploited simply for our own ends.
We have distorted our knowledge.
We have abused our power.
Great Spirit, whose dry lands thirst,
help us to find the way to refresh your lands.
Great Spirit, whose waters are choked with debris and pollution,
help us to find the way to cleanse your waters.
Great Spirit, whose beautiful earth grows ugly with misuse,
help us to find the way to restore beauty to your handiwork.
Great Spirit, whose creatures are being destroyed,
help us to find a way to replenish them.
Great Spirit, whose gifts to us are being lost in selfishness and corruption, help us to find the way to restore our humanity.
