Ingredients & Directions for Muffins:

2 cups all purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup granulated or caster sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup cherries, sliced in half (pie cherries)
2 medium eggs
1/2 butter flavor Crisco
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine dry ingredients and stir in cherries. Mix together eggs, butter flavor Crisco, and milk. Beat until blended. Stir in the flour. Pour approximately 3/4 cup each into muffin paper-lined muffin tins. Sprinkle with the topping listed below.

Ingredients & Directions for Topping:

1/4 cup granulated or caster sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Bake for 15 minutes on center shelf in oven or until muffin bounces back in the center when touched lightly with fingertip.

Serve with coffee or milk.
