Whatever the season, Minnesota has something to offer for your vacation. We are the land of 10,000 lakes, but we offer much more.
There’s something for everyone in the state of Minnesota. Summertime is the most popular vacation time here in the land of 10,000 lakes. That doesn’t mean that we don’t vacation year round here. People of all ages and of all interests can enjoy what we have to offer.
Let’s start with the obvious. The land of 10,000 lakes probably brings summer to mind. In the summer one of the most common things that you will see is swimming. Boating is just as common. With boating you have choices including canoes, paddleboats, pontoons, speed boats, or small fishing boats. People enjoy lake activities such as fishing, waterskiing, knee boarding and tubing. Golf is also very popular during the summer months, and you will find several resorts with large golf courses. Most of the resorts are located on or near lakes, to accommodate whatever it is that you wish to do. If you’re not a golfer, and you want more out of a vacation than being on the lakes, we can still meet your needs. The north country here in Minnesota has several unique shops for the shopper in your family. Whatever you’re looking to buy, you can find it. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’re sure to find some “gotta have it” items that jump out at you.
As summer turns to fall, the swimming fades away along with the watersports. Fishing, however grows stronger, and golf is still enjoyed. Minnesota is most known for it’s hunting in the fall. Deer, bear, grouse, pheasants and turkey are among the hunted.
Winter brings ice fishing and ice skating to our 10,000 lakes. Ice fishing tournaments are widely held. Other winter activities include downhill skiing, cross country skiing, sledding, and snowmobiling. The community of snowmobilers is steadily growing, and there are several trails reserved for them. The resorts in Minnesota offer year round comfort, which in the winter months can seem even more inviting.
When winter gives way to spring, the cycle slowly reverses itself. Golf returns, the lakes open up, the boats return, the shops re-open, and the population steadily grows again. Summer is by far the most popular season of Minnesota, but every season offers something special.
