1962
Garth Brooks was born in Tulsa Oklahoma, he was officially named Troyal Garth Brooks. Troyal after his dad and Garth after his great-great grandfather.Garth is the baby of the
family of six children, behind the siblings Jim, Jerome, Mike, Besty, and Kelly. His parents Colleen Carroll and Troyal Brooks entered into marriage with her having three children and him having one child and they expanded their family having Kelly and Garth.
1966
The Brooks family moved to Yukon Oklahoma about 100 miles from Tulsa.
1977
Brooks was elected Vice President of his ninth grade class.
1978
In February Brooks gets a banjo for his sixteenth birthday
1980
Garth graduates from Yukon High School and enrolls in Oklahoma State University.
1981
In May Garth's first single called Unwounded gets released in Yukon
1982
On April 6 Garth Brooks won first prize of $50.00 in a talent show.
1984
In December Garth graduates from OSU with an advertising degree. He lived in Stillwater yet another year working as a musician and often performing in a bar called Willies Saloon.
1985
Brooks made his first trip to Nashville Tennessee, but returned home with a broken heart and broken dreams.
1986
On May 24 Garth Brooks Married Sandy Mahl in Sandy’s hometown Owasso, Oklahoma, and he continued to play in the saloon.
1987
May 29 Brooks was accepted into ASCAP. In June Brooks returned to Nashville with Sandy.
1988
March 23 Bob Doyle Brooks’s co-manager asks Capital Records' chief to set up an appointment to listen to Garth Brooks.
May 11 Shults sees Garth perform and makes a hand shake agreement to sign him to a recording contract.
June 17 Brooks offficially signed on with capital records
1989
The Garth Brooks Fan Club was formed.
March 25 Much Too Young debuts at #94 on the billboards and peaks to #8 on July 15
April 12 Garth Brooks, Brooks’s first album was released.
In May Brooks goes on the road to promote his new album.
May 9 Keith Whitley died of Alcohol overdose and is later honored in Brooks’s The Dance video.
June 24 Garth made his first debut on The Grand Ole Opry
July 21 If Tomorrow Never Comes video was complete
September 9 If Tomorrow Never Comes debuts on the charts
November 4 Sandy gives Garth an ultimatum: My way or the Highway.
December 9 If Tomorow Never Comes gave Brooks his number 1 single.
1990
May Garth tapes The Dance vdeo, this was his first step to stardom.
May 5 The Dance debuts on the charts.
June 6 Garth got his first God Album
June 21 The Dance becomes #1 and stays there for two weeks
August 18 Friends in Low Places debuts on the charts
August 27 No Fences Released
October 4 Garth’s album certified as platunum
October 9 No Fences goes platinum
October 13 Garth goes to the Dallas Fair
November 13 Unanswered Prayers debuts on the charts
1991
January 12 Unanswered Prayers is his fourth number 1 for 3 weeks straight
April 29 Brooks won the entertainer of the year, male vocalist, album, single , song, and video at the CMA’s
June 22 Thunder Rolls was his sixth number 1 for two weeks
