Once there is a little nip in the air, there are many fun activities you can do with your children. Just because summer is over, it doesn't mean that the fun is. Here are some great fall and winter activities to do with your kids.

--Visit a pumpkin patch, farm or a farmers market. Show your kids that vegetables don't just come from the supermarket. Explain to them how they are grown and harvested and sold.

-- Make leaf collages. Collect different leaves and paste them onto paper or poster board.

--Take your kids to help you gather firewood.

--Roast marshmallows over a bonfire in the backyard. Bundle up and enoy the nip in the air while you eat outside.

--Go to the zoo, it is much less crowded in the fall and winter.

--Take your kids on an old fashioned hayride or pony ride.

--Gather up all your old coats, mittens and hats that no longer fit and take them to a homeless shelter or a charity with your kids. This can be a great learning opportunity.

--Go ice-skating and out for hot chocolate.

--Organize a snowman building contest for the neighborhood kids, and give out small toys as prizes.

--Rent a "summer" video and remember how hot you were in the middle of August!! Relish the season!!

--When the weathre turns really chilly, stay in your pajamas all day and have "game day" at your house.
