When choosing books to read to your child, it is important to look for certain details. You want the story to hold the child's interest, not be too lengthy, be repetitive or rhythmic, and have wonderful illustrations. The story is important because if it is too advanced for the child, they will get bored easily. If the story is too long, they will begin to lose interest. By being repetitive or rhythmic, the child can look forward to saying the lines with you. The illustrations are what keep the child looking at the book.

Five of the best books around for children have excellent illustrations, are not too long, are repetitive or rhythmic and have a memorable storyline. These books are best read to children ages 0-4.
