1. On the bottom supports, measure 2 inches from an edge along one end, and mark a 45-degree line from this point, cut off the corner by sawing to the outside of this line.
2. On one end of both the back and seat supports, measure 1 inch along an edge from the end and join this mark with the opposite corner. Cut off the corners by sawing to the outside of this line.
3. Position all the pieces for each end together, with the front and back supports on top of the seat and bottom supports. Make certain the two sides are mirror images of each other, and screw them together with two 2½ inch screws where piece crosses.
4. Set the ends upright so the screw heads are facing inward and screw the seat front ledge onto the front of the side pieces with two screws on each end so that it overhangs at the ends by 2 inches.
5. Screw the first seat slat on, flush at the front and overhanging by 2 inches at the ends. Leave a ¼ inch gap and screw the second seat slat on.
6. Screw the top piece in place. Allowing it to overhang by 2 inches on each end.
7. Position the top back slat in place flush at the top and overhanging by 2 inches at the ends, and then screw it in place. Leave a 1 – inch gap, position the second back slat in place, and screw it on.
8. Sand all the edges of the boards smooth with sandpaper.
