The roof of your home is one of the most important parts of a home. You want a roof that will endure through all the types of weather your climate will see. You want a roof that won't leak and you want one that matches the architecture of your home. Here are some different types of roofing you should consider.

Asphalt –Asphalt roofing is made of fiberglass mats or a rag fiber that is mixed with asphalt and covered with minerals. Asphalt roofs can take on a variety of weights, sizes, and colors, and they are known to last a long time, up to 25 years. That's why asphalt roofs are the most popular type of roofing.
Metal –Metal roofs are made of any kinds of metals, ranging from tin to copper to aluminum. They don't require a lot of upkeep and are fireproof. Metal roofs are very easy to maintain, as well, as you simply need a patch of the roof and nail it in place. These roofs are known to last 50 years or more.
Wood shingles –Shingles are typically made out of cedar or redwood, the types of wood that last the longest and are the most resistant to rot. If you go with this type of wood for your roof, you want to be sure to have it pressure treated with good preservatives and fire-retardant chemicals. This type of roofing will last at least 25 years, but as it ages you want to watch it carefully because wood tends to shrink over time. When it shrinks, it offers less protection for your home. When it starts shrinking, you'll want to look at replacing it.
Clay or concrete –Clay and concrete roofs last longer than any other types. They typically last longer than half a century. You can get your clay or concrete roofs in a wide array of colors and textures to match your home, and they're fire resistant.
