Garbage Disposal Repair
All of us will experience a clogged garbage disposal sooner or later. Here's how to fix them...
Follow these guidelines below to unclog a waste disposer:
While kitchen garbage disposers are built to handle normal cooking and table scraps, they often balk at cooking utensils and silverware. The overload switch should turn off the unit before the motor burns itself out, but sometimes you will have to free up the flywheel yourself.
Unplug the appliance and put pressure on it with a broomstick handle, not your fingers. If that doesn't work, pull on the object causing the blockage with long-handle pliers.
Better yet, prevent such mishaps by not packing material into the drain before starting it. Let the unit self-feed.
Run cold water at maximum force just before, during and for several seconds after operating the disposer, beside lubricating the process and flushing the pipes clean, cold water congeals grease so the machine can deal with it.
