The Obelisk, called TEJEN in sacred language of ancient Egyptians, was a term that was synonymous with protection or defense. The needle of the stone has been said to perforate the clouds and disperse negative forces that threaten to accumulate in the form of a visible storm.

The word Obelisk comes from the Greek obelisks meaning prong for roasting. As a general rule, obelisks were erected in pairs and served to magically protect the temple. The obelisk is composed of two parts: The body and the pyramidion. The body is a long block of conic trunk section and the pyramidon symbolizes the rays of the sun. The Egyptians believe the solar rays brought great power, even into the grave, which would subsequently resurrect the deceased. There are several obelisks to this day still standing.
