Looking for a taste-pleasing way to beat the heat this summer? Then try these easy-to-make drink recipes for a refreshing treat:

Sparkling Juice
-This fruity beverage accents the naturally good taste of grapes with the tartness of lemon:

Juice of 4 lemons
1 pint grape juice
Sugar to taste (or artificial sweetener)
1 quart diet or regular ginger ale

Mix fruit juices and sugar together, mixing well. Add ginger ale and ice and serve.

Grape Juice Ricky
-If you like a little less tartness, then try this variation of the Sparkling Juice recipe. The lemon juice is replaced by lime juice:

For each glass, mix the juice of one-half lime with one-half glass grape juice. Add two tablespoons sugar (more or less to taste), or desired amount of artificial sweetener. Shake in a mixer with crushed ice. Fill glass with plain or carbonated water and serve.

Coffee Milk Shake
-Milkshakes are an American favorite any time of the year! If you are a milkshake fan as well as a coffee lover, then you will surely enjoy this recipe for a rich-tasting cooler which combines both great tastes:

Use 3 cups cold, strong coffee, 3 well-beaten eggs, 6 cups chilled milk, 6 tablespoons cream, sugar to taste, (or desired amount of artificial sweetener), and a dash of salt. Mix well then pour into individual glasses. Add enough chilled carbonated water to each glass to to make a sumptuous foam on top.

Iced Tea Punch
-Iced tea is another summer favorite that quenches the thirst caused by the searing summer heat. Try this recipe to get your favorite taste of tea mingled in with some delicious fruit juices:


1-1/3 cup boiling water
4 tea bags
1-1/2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup grapefruit juice
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
Sugar to taste (or artificial sweetener)
4 cups ginger ale, chilled
2 cups ice water

Pour boiling water over tea bags; cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Remove bags and discard. Combine tea and fruit juices together in a large pitcher. Add a cup of sugar, more or less, or artificial sweetener, stirring until it dissolves. Chill mixture well. Stir in ginger ale and crushed ice and serve. Makes about 2-1/2 quarts.

Chilly Russian Tea
-This is an old-time favorite, but have you ever tried a tall glass of it served over crushed ice? You will find this tea to be a winner!


1/2 cup instant tea
2-1/2 cups sugar (suit to taste)
2 cups Tang Breakfast Drink
2 small packages lemonade mix
1 tsp. cloves
2 tsps. ground cinnamon

Mix all ingredients together and store in covered jar. Then, when you want a glass of heaven, dissolve 4 teaspoons tea mixture into 2 cups of hot water. Cool slightly, then pour into glass over crushed ice. Delicious!
