Makes 36 cookies


1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup soft brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped


Preheat oven to 350 F (180 C). Using a food processor, add flour, baking soda, salt, butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips and walnut pieces.

Put a heaped teaspoon of cookie dough per cookie on a silicon-lined cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart from each other. Bake for 10 minutes until slightly golden. Use a metal spatula to move cookies onto a wire rack to cool. Serve warm or cold with tea or coffee, or as a kids' snack.
