2 c sifted all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 vegetable shortening
1/4 c cold water
1 can sour pitted cherries
3/4 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp butter
1 egg, beaten

Sift flour and salt into a bowl; cut in shortening with pastry blender. Add water; mix. Form 2 pastry balls with hands; roll out bottom crust and place in pie plate. Drian cherries; carefulle mix cherries with next 4 ingredients. Pour into 9 inch pastry line pie plate; dot with butter. Roll out top crust and cut in strips; weave strips on top of plate. Flute edges; brush top with the egg. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
