1/2c solid shortening
1/2c butter, softened, not melted
4c confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2-3 TBL milk

Measure the shortening and the softened butter, place into the mixing bowl. Mix together til a creamy consistency. Gradually add the confectioners sugar and mix together. Add the vanilla and enough milk to give the frosting a creamy consistency. If you want a thinner frosting, use more milk. If you like thick frosting, use less milk. After all mixed together, it is ready to spread on a cooled cake. This makes enough to frost a 13 x 9 cake or 2 small 8" mround cakes.
