Chilly Orange Drink

You can make two drinks with this recipe.
What you will need:

1/2 cup chilled orange drink
1/2 cup orange sherbet
3/4 cup chilled ginger ale

Directions:

1. Pour 1/4 cup of orange drink into each glass.
2. Next put half of the sherbet into each glass.
3. Finally, add half of the ginger ale to each
glass. Drink UP!

GRAMPA'S BLUEBERRY PANCAKES

TOOLS:

large, nonstick frying pan or griddle
wire whisk
long-handled wooden spoon
large mixing bowl
spatula
measuring spoons
medium mixing bowl

INGREDIENTS:

Bisquick or Krusteaz pancake mix (so easy to use) follow the directions on the box.

1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen (if frozen there is no need to thaw the berries completely before using them). Fresh from Grampa's backyard are the best!

Fresh fruit, fruit spread, or syrup

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large bowl, mix the pancake mix with a wire whisk.
2. Add the blueberries and stir very gently so that the batter is a little lumpy.
3. Heat a large, nonstick frying pan or griddle to medium-hot (350 degrees). Spray with vegetable oil spray. Drop a tiny drop of the batter into the frying pan to test for the correct heat -- when it sizzles it is ready. Pour batter into the frying pan. When the pancake is bubbly on top and the edges are starting to brown lightly, carefully flip the pancake using a spatula. Cook on this side for 1 or 2 minutes.
4. Serve the pancakes immediately, with your favorite fresh fruit, fruit spread, or syrup.
5. When Gramma makes pancakes she pours the batter on the griddle in the shape of the first letter of our names or in a smiley face.

ANTS on a LOG

What you will need:

celery sticks
peanut butter
raisins
adult assistant to help with cutting

Directions:
1. Wash the celery and cut it into pieces.
2. Spread peanut butter in u-shaped part of celery, from one end to the other.
3. Press raisins into peanut butter.
4. There you have it…. Now you can enjoy your Ants!

Cupa Cupa Egg Peanut Butter Cookies

What you will need:

1 cup sugar
1 cup smooth peanut butter (you can use crunchy if you like)
1 egg
a bag of chocolate stars or Hershey's kisses

Directions:

1. Mix the sugar, peanut butter, and egg together in a bowl.
2. Roll dough into walnut size balls. Place on a cookie sheet and with your thumb make a well in the center of each and place a chocolate star.
3. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes and let them cool.
There you go, simple, perfect, and oh so delicious.........

Spider Pretzels

What you will need for each one:

2 round crackers
2 tsp. Peanut butter
8 small stick pretzels
2 raisins

Directions:

1. Make a "cracker sandwich" with the peanut butter
2. Stick the pretzel "legs" in the middle of the sandwich.
3. Stick the raisin "eyes" on top with just a dab of peanut butter.
4. There you have it! A perfectly creepy snack.

Peanut Butter Taffy

What you will need:

Big, fluffy marshmallows
peanut butter

Directions:

1. Use about 4 marshmallows per person.
2. Start by squeezing and squeezing all the air out of them. This is the fun part. Make sure all the air is gone.
3. When it's a squishy ball, add a little peanut butter and keep squeezing.
4. Now eat it! Doesn't that taste just like taffy? Yummers….

Ice Blocks

What you will need:

Ice cube trays
Any kind of juice
(optional) Yogurt & fresh fruit

Directions:

1. Pour fresh fruit in ice cube trays and freeze. Isn't that easy?
2. Or mix yogurt with fresh fruit and freeze. So yummy……
There you go…… great treats anytime!

Pepperoni Pizza

What you will need:

Bagels or English Muffins
Pepperoni
Pizza sauce
Cheese

Directions:

1. Have an adult cut the bagels or muffins in half.
2. Spread pizza sauce all over each half.
3. Lay the pepperoni on top and cover with cheese.
4. Have an adult put them in the oven until the cheese is all bubbly.
5. You can also put anything you like on top, like veggies or other meats.

GRAMPA'S DUMP CAKE



1 can cherry pie filling
1 can crushed pineapple with juice
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cube of butter
1 cup pecan pieces

You'll need a 9X13 pan.
Pour in the cherry pie filling and the pineapple to cover the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle the cake mix over the entire pan. Cut the butter in little cubes and place evenly over the cake mix and then sprinkle with the pecan pieces. Bake at 350° for approximateely 50 minutes.
Isn't that easy!!!! We serve it with vanilla ice cream.

Cherry Custard

What you need:

1 purchased shortbread pie crust
1 large package of vanilla pudding mix
2 bananas
1 small jar of maraschino cherries
6 Vanilla wafers

To make this delicious pie:
Cut the bananas in slices and place in the bottom of the pie crust.
Mix the pudding mix as directed on the box for pie - not pudding!
Crumble up the Vanilla wafers and sprinkle on top of the pie.
Place the cherries around the outside edge of the pie.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour and then enjoy the best desert you ever ate.

Kids Nachos

Items Needed:

1 Bag of Tortilla Chips
Grated Cheddar Cheese
Baking Sheet
Aluminum Foil

Cover a baking sheet with foil. Put a layer of tortilla chips on the sheet, sprinkle with grated cheddar cheese, and broil about 1 minute until cheese is melted.

Soft Pretzels

2 - 16 oz. loaves frozen bread dough
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon water
Coarse salt

Directions:

Separate thawed bread into 24 - 1 1/2" balls. Roll each ball into a rope 14 1/2" long. Have children plan and design pretzel shapes (letters or numerals). Put pretzels one inch apart on greased cookie sheet. Let stand for 20 minutes and brush with combined egg white and water. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Place a shallow pan containing 1" of boiling water on bottom rack of oven; bake pretzels at 350 degrees on rack above water for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Peppermint Ice Cream

3 lb. coffee can with plastic cover
1 lb. coffee can with plastic cover
Rock salt
Crushed ice
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Red food coloring
Crushed peppermint stick (about 3 T.)

Directions:

Place 1 lb. can in center of 3 lb can. Fill 1 lb. can with ice cream ingredients. Layer crushed ice and rock salt around the small 1 lb. can. Cover both with their plastic lids. Sit in a circle on floor and roll the can back and forth for about 15 minutes.

Rice Krispie Bars

6 cups Kelloggs Rice Krispies
1 bag of white marshmallows
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
No-stick cooking spray

Directions:

Melt the margarine in a no-stick pan and add the entire bag of marshmallows. Stir over medium heat until the marshmallows have completely melted. Add Rice Krispies and mix together well. Pour mixture into a 9" x 13" pan that has been greased or sprayed with no-stick cooking spray. Use a baggie that has been sprayed with no-stick spray to spread and flatten mixture. Cut into squares when cool. Kids love making and eating these easy treats!

Gingerbread Men

1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 pkg. instant butterscotch pudding mix
1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Favorite frosting
raisins & candies
Cookie cutter

Directions:

Mix together egg, shortening, and brown sugar. Add remaining ingredients. Roll out dough and cut into gingerbread men shapes with a cookie cutter. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Decorate men using favorite frosting and candies.

Mudballs

2 1/2 cups Vanilla Wafer crumbs
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup chocolate syrup
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:

Combine crumbs, coconut and sugar. Add syrup and vanilla. Mix well. Shape into 1 inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Store in an airtight container. Makes about 3 dozen.

Peanut Butter Playdough

1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
1/2 tablespoon honey

Directions:

Combine all ingredients. Use like regular playdough, and then eat your creations! You can decorate them with raisins, chocolate chips, etc.

Easy Cinnamon Rolls

1 tube crescent rolls
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
8 large marshmallows
1/4 cup margarine, melted

Directions:

Separate rolls into 8 triangles. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip each marshmallow into margarine, roll in cinnamon-sugar and place on a triangle. Pinch dough around marshmallow, sealing all edges. Dip tops of dough into remaining margarine, then into cinnamon-sugar again. Place with sugar side up in greased muffin cups. Bake at 375 degrees for 13-15 minutes. Serve warm.

Popsicles

2 cups boiling water
1 small package Jello
1 package Kool-Aid
1 cup sugar

Directions:

Mix together above ingredients. Add 2 cups cold water and stir until all is dissolved. Pour into small paper cups and put in the freezer until partially frozen. Insert a popsicle stick into each cup and return to freezer. When ready to eat, just peel off the cup.

Low Sugar Teething Biscuits

1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. water
2 Tbsp. oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup flour
1 Tbsp. soy flour
1 Tbsp. wheat germ

Directions:

Combine all ingredients. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thick or less. Cut into 2-3 inch long rectangles. Bake at 350 degrees on an ungreased baking sheet for 15 minutes.
