Trisha Yearwood is one of the most popular country performers of the '90s. Born in Monticello, Georgia on September 19, 1964 to Gwen and Jack Yearwood, she was raised on their 30-acre farm. She has one sister, Beth. Throughout her childhood she was an avid music fan. She loved to listen to songs by Elvis, several other country artists and southern rock on the radio. Trisha was a part of school musicals and choral groups.
In 1985 Trisha began working on a college degree in Music Business at Nashville’s Belmont University. She became an intern at MTM Records and soon began singing demos for songwriters. She moved from background singing to master sessions and after putting together her own showcase performance was signed by MCA.
Yearwood’s 1991 single debut, "She's In Love With The Boy", found a new, young market for country music, and in two weeks it rose on up the charts to #1. It was the first of four hits from her album, Trisha Yearwood, which went on to #2 and was certified double platinum for selling two millions copies.
In 1986 Trisha married Christopher Latham, but they were divorced in 1991. Then again in May 1994 she married; this time to Robert Reynolds, bassist for the country rock band the Mavericks. The couple announced plans to divorce in 1999.
In 1994, Yearwood’s next album again hit number one with "XXXs and OOOs (An American Girl)" from the album The Sweetest Gift. She has won many awards for her craft including: ACM: Top New Female Vocalist, 1991; Grammy: Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for "I Fall to Pieces" with Aaron Neville, 1994; CMA: Female Vocalist of the Year, 1997; ACM: Female Vocalist of the Year, 1998; Grammy: Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "How Do I Live" (from the movie Con Air), 1998; Grammy: Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for "In Another's Eyes" with Garth Brooks, 1998; "Triple Crown" for winning the CMA Award, the 1998 ACM Award and the Grammy.
