Mary Tyler Moore is going to make it after all. She is still working and going strong on and off screen.
Mary Tyler Moore was born on December 29, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York. When she was a young child, her family moved her and her younger brother and sister to Southern California. Before she graduated from high school, she was working as a dancer on Hotpoint appliance commercials, which aired during "The Ozzie and Harriet Show."
In her career, Miss Moore has acted in over fifteen television shows as well as being in ten movies since the 1950’s. For her acting achievements, she had won over 15 awards. She is widely noted for her role as Laura Petrie on "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and Mary Richards on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show,"
She will be returning to television in a new series "Good as Gold" with Columbia TriStar Productions. The comedy will also star actors Elon Gold, Elliot Gould and Jonathan Silverman. Mary Tyler Moore and Valerie Harper teamed up again amid their very busy schedules to do a television special "Mary and Rhoda."
Off screen, Miss Moore has battled with the eating disorder anorexia. She has lost her brother to cancer, her sister to a drug and alcohol overdose and her son to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Miss Moore lives with her third husband, Dr. Richard Levine in both of their homes - one in Manhattan and the other in upstate New York.
Miss Moore is the International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation is on the Board of Directors of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
