Dennis Quaid is synonymous with the word versatile. His talents have yet to be tapped into for the acting sensation that he is.
Dennis Quaid was born on April 9, 1954 in Houston, Texas. He has an equally talented older brother that we all know and love – actor Randy Quaid.
Because of drugs being prevalent in his life, Dennis took a two-year break from making movies to enroll in drug rehabilitation. No matter what character he portrays, Dennis Quaid always gives one hundred percent and gives an outstanding performance.
Dennis was first interested in acting while in high school. In 1974, He dropped out of college to follow his brother to Hollywood. He landed his first role a year later in "Crazy Mama" starring actress Cloris Leachman. Since his first film, Mr. Quaid has made over 35 movies.
Prior to marrying actress Meg Ryan in 1991, he was married to actress P.J. Soles. Dennis and Meg met on the set while filming the movie "Innerspace" with Martin Short. Although he played a leading man in a few films, it wasn’t until the movie "The Right Stuff" in 1983 was he established as a leading man. The movie "Great Balls of Fire" in 1989 showed off Mr. Quaid’s musical talents where he portrayed singer Jerry Lee Lewis. When he isn’t acting, Mr. Quaid is writing and performing songs. Behind the scenes Dennis Quaid is now an executive producer and his new film "Stranger Than The Wheel" will be coming out in 2001.
